State-of-the-Art Labels for Adhesive Book Covers

Although Labels4Schools specialises in the supply of top-quality, self-adhesive labels for schoolbooks, our product ranges consist of many more solutions with which to mark almost whatever accompanies youngsters when they leave the house to participate in activities or simply play with friends. Additionally, we now also offer adhesive products for use within the home. Nonetheless, the school environment remains fundamental.
We’re almost into the latter quarter of 2021. Three quarters of this year seem to have flown by, even though the year hasn’t been the easiest one on record. Fortunately, though, schools have reopened and education has been normalised once again, albeit with precautionary protocols in place to keep pupils safe and healthy.
Nonetheless, soon enough, Christmas and the holiday and festive season will be upon us. Shortly thereafter, it’s the usual back-to-school rush to get ready and prepared for a new school year, which awaits moms, dads and their young ones, many of whom may be going to school for the very first time.
A Buzzing Time
This is an eagerly anticipated milestone in every child’s young life. However, for parents, this is usually a more-than-usual busy time of the year – returning to work after the year’s major holiday season, shopping for school uniforms and stationery, labelling clothes, covering books and affixing labels to these too.
The latter isn’t exactly any parent’s favourite task because it’s labour-intensive and time-consuming, typically beyond the capabilities of a young child who hasn’t yet developed the dexterity to handle slippery book covers and sticky adhesive products like glue.
Brown Paper
In South Africa, some 50-odd years ago, adhesive book covers were unheard of; they hadn’t yet been invented. At the time, rolls of brown paper, cut into individual sizes and shapes commensurate with the dimensions of books, served as book covering material. Inside the front and back covers, the folded-over brown paper would be secured with adhesive tape.
The child’s name and grade would either be handwritten directly onto the brown paper or on a non-adhesive store-bought label, which required the use of paper glue. Sticking these paper labels onto covers was often quite a messy business.
Protective Adhesive Film
Unprotected paper covers and paper labels on paperback and hardback products only remain neat for a while because of frequent handling in a school environment. Now that standard-sized pre-cut and rolls of clear or coloured film, with which to add an additional, more durable protective layer, are available, schools require such durable protection for text and exercise books.
Label It
Sticking a paper label onto an adhesive book cover doesn’t make sense because the latter will outlast the former, by far. We offer a variety of self-adhesive waterproof vinyl labelling options designed to affix to all types of books, files and document covers.
Also remember – from a very young age, children enjoy feeling proud. For most, their sense of pride extends to the appearance of their school prerequisites, which should ideally be kept as close as possible to mint condition – label included.
